"Gratitude is the very essence of worship." -President Gordon B. Hinckley

As I sat at my computer today, I pulled up the blog post that I wrote last Thanksgiving. My, oh my, how things have changed.

While I am still dearly grateful for the things I was grateful for last year, so many more things have been introduced into my life.

I, above all, am unbelievably grateful for my Father in heaven. I am astonished by His goodness and His love and the constant care that He extends to me. I am so grateful to have an eternal Father, who knows my past, knows my present, and knows my future. I am so incredibly grateful that He holds my life in His hands, because His plans for my life have unfolded into something more beautiful than I ever could have ever imagined.

I am grateful for my perfect Friend and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am grateful that He atoned for me. I am grateful that I will once again, have the chance to live with Him and our Father. I am grateful for His purity and His example. I am grateful for His mercy, His love, and His flawless perfection. Every day I am humbled because every day I witness something that is only possible because of His atoning sacrifice.

I am grateful for all of the beautiful things the gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provide. I am grateful for the ability to attend the temple, and to dwell in the Home of my Heavenly Father and Savior. I am grateful for the weekly meeting I am able to attend, where I gather with saints and friends and learn more about this perfect gospel that I am so proud to be a part of. I am grateful that I am able to take the Sacrament in that weekly meeting, and I am so grateful for the sweet spirit I feel every time that I do. I am grateful for the Book of Mormon. I am grateful for the counsel I am able to receive every time I open that precious book. I am so grateful for prayer. I am so grateful that I can communicate with my Heavenly Father whenever I need to, and I can't possibly put into words how grateful I am to know that He will always, always be there.

I am grateful for the people my Father in heaven has put into my life. I am grateful for my family, and my dearest loved ones and friends. I am grateful for what each relationship in my life has given me. These relationships have given me so much, and I will forever be so grateful. It's an unbelievable thing to have people in your life who you know will never leave you, and above all never stop loving you.

I live comfortably in a beautiful place. I never wonder where I will find my next meal. I have a roof over my head and a place to lay my head. I have found security and shelter when so many others have not, and I have found refuge spiritually and emotionally from every storm I have encountered.

My Father in heaven and His perfect Son are so good to me. They are my reason to live, and I live the way I do because I have hope and faith that I will once again, dwell in their presence and be with them one day.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
May you be aware of all your blessings,
and count them often today.
