The First Six Months

Tonight as I laid in bed I looked over at my sweet husband.
I noticed this single piece of hair on his forehead
that grows in differently than all the rest.
I watched as his eyelids twitched -
wondering what he could be dreaming about.
I admired the scattered freckles on his nose...
the freckles I have always loved so much.
And I made a silent promise to him (again)
that I was in this for forever.
I silently reminded him that I was committed.
And as I silently reminded him,
he silently reassured me that he is too.

"... If you suppose that the full-blown rapture of young romantic love is the sum total of the possibilities which spring from the fountains of life, you have not yet lived to see the devotion and the comfort of longtime married love. Married couples are tried by temptation, misunderstandings, financial problems, family crises, and illness, and all the while love grows stronger. Mature love has a bliss not even imagined by newlyweds." -President Boyd K. Packer

Psssttt... sleepy head,
I can't wait for that to be us.
